So Much Glass Art

I really enjoyed making my glass desk and want to do it all the time. Unfortunately it's pretty time consuming but here are several more pieces that I have worked on over the last couple of years.

Found some old glass panels in my dad's garage that belonged to something that he no longer had so I felt inspired to make something. I gave both of these to a couple of coworkers that like this show. I love how glossy and vibrant everything looks when you back paint the glass. Need to think of something to make with those big wooden circles I have left over from the dog bowl stand project.

I got a request to paint someone's picture on some glass and I stupidly said yes. First thing I did was redraw the the photo to follow a simpler cartoon style. This also let me figure out just how much paint I needed to buy.

After a solid hour of staring at slightly different shades of beiges I had all my paint picked out. I didn't have any clear glass laying around so I sanded off the silver coating on this mirror and I called it good.
Waiting around for paint to dry isn't the most fun but it's part of the process.

In between each color I scrape away the areas I want to paint next. It's a combination of an additive and subtractive creation process.

Fast forward to the end of the day aaaand. I cracked the lower right corner of the glass while installing the bronze fame I made to protect the edges of the glass... I ended up making another one the next day. This was a very time consuming project and I ended up loosing a bit of money on this because I had to make it twice. Still fun and will definitely do again.

I really do like making stuff out of other peoples' "trash" so when some gave me an old window I wanted to do a large painted of the show I had been watching. Just like the last one I started out on the computer drawing out all the different layers and colors that I needed. I find exactly all the colors I wanted but here is a cool brake down most of the painting:

I find it funny how wildly different the back side of the piece is compared to the front. The back side looks like a paint explosion but when you flip it over you actually get a cool painting. I also ended up making a nice stainless steel frame for this as well.

This is one of my more recent glass paintings that I made and ended up gifting to someone. I just really enjoy the color scheme of this Alice in Wonderland inspired Cheshire Cat.
